AASD officials confirm another COVID-19 case at Penn Lincoln Elementary

According to Altoona Area School District officials, another student at the Penn Lincoln Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter penned to parents/guardians, Superintendent Dr. Charles Prijatelj said the district was notified by a parent on at the end of the school day on Friday, Oct. 2. Prijatelj said the Pennsylvania Department of Health was contacted immediately.

According to district officials, the student’s class remained home Monday, Oct. 5, and as directed by the Department of Health, will not return to school until Tuesday, Oct. 13. The classroom and common areas of the school have been disinfected, according to school officials.

Dr. Prijatelj stated “all other students and staff can proceed with their current activities in their designated locations.”

Last week, district officials announced another student tested positive for COVID-19 at the elementary school. The school was notified late Tuesday.
