The Nauvoo Pageant celebrates the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the community the early members built in a bend of the Mississippi River in Nauvoo, Illinois. 

A combination of actors and family cast members perform in the Nauvoo and British pageants during several weeks in the summer in historic Nauvoo, Illinois. The Nauvoo Pageant is narrated by an actor portraying Parley P. Pratt, an early leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who shares the mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith and tells of the sacrifice, faith and courage of the Saints who built the city and a temple to their God.

The British Pageant is narrated by a character named Arthur Ashton and explores the beginnings of the Church in the British Isles and the impact of the British members’ abiding faith and deep love for one another and the Savior. It is a shorter version of the pageant performed periodically in Chorley, England, including in August 2023. (See britishpageant.co.uk for information about the pageant in England.)

The pageants in Nauvoo are on alternate evenings from July 11 through Aug. 5, 2023 — the Nauvoo Pageant is on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the British Pageant is on Wednesdays and Fridays. 

A frontier-style Country Fair is prior to the Nauvoo and British Pageants in historic Nauvoo, Illinois, and includes 20 different 1840s style games and activities hosted by family cast members dressed in period costumes. 

Nauvoo is one of the communities where early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints settled and built a temple, along with other key events in the Church’s history, before ultimately heading west to Utah. The Church has restored or rebuilt more than 20 historic buildings there.
